Submerse - Acute
Every now and then a release comes along that absolutely floors me. Such is the case with Acute by Submerse. This is not hype, so much as fact. In just three tracks, Submerse has converted me to the most devoted of fans— I even, yes, purchased the EP.
After multiple listens, I’m still astounded by the production value and emotional depth of this release. Each track is a complete, meaningful composition with something to say. “Belong”, so rich with yearning, is without question one of my favorite songs of the year. With its beautiful melody and intricate ambience, it is equal parts lifting and haunting. Ciches aside, “Fall In Love” will make you do just that. The piano, deep synths, and breakbeat melody melt into an incredibly rewarding arrangement. My god! Submerse, please continue making music. We need you…
